In many member states, providers of electronic communications services have recently announced, or are already engaged in, the roll-out of next generation access networks (NGA) for the provision of high-speed broadband services. These new networks can take a variety of different shapes and potentially pose important challenges to national regulatory authorities (NRAs).
Over recent months, the Commission has already received notifications from NRAs relating to markets 4 and 5 of the Recommendation on relevant markets, with many more to come.
Against this background, the Commission is currently preparing a Recommendation on regulated access to Next Generation Access Networks (NGA), and seeks the views and contributions of all interested parties on all aspects of the draft documents.
The public consultation will be open until 14 November 2008.
